• Appeal to hearing officer: Officer James Turney has 10 days to appeal LaCabe's decision to a civil service hearing officer who can either upgrade or downgrade the discipline.
• Appeal to commission: Either Turney or the police department can appeal the hearing officer's decision to the entire Civil Service Commission.
• Appeal to court: Either side can then appeal in district court.
• Officer-involved shooting: 20 days suspension without pay.
