Final decision: Manager of Safety Al LaCabe has until April 16 to make the final decision on discipline.

Appeal to hearing officer: Officer James Turney has 10 days to appeal LaCabe's decision to a civil service hearing officer who can either upgrade or downgrade the discipline.

Appeal to commission: Either Turney or the police department can appeal the hearing officer's decision to the entire Civil Service Commission.

Appeal to court: Either side can then appeal in district court.
